Celebration of Life – Erin Wanvig

Celebration of Life – Erin Wanvig

From Erin's brothers...

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved sister Erin Maureen Wanvig.

Erin passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025 at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver surrounded by family and friends, where her battle with juvenile diabetes finally came to an end.

Erin was born on June 5, 1965 in Calgary, Alberta, the youngest of seven children.

Her last 25 years were spent in Tumbler Ridge where she created a great life and formed many lifelong friendships. Erin established quite a presence in the arts community while there leaving behind a legacy!

She will be remembered for her sense of humor, love for everyone she knew including her dog Sassy, and her positive attitude towards life. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched and the family who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Her close friends in Calgary, Airdrie, and Tumbler Ridge were instrumental in Erin's life and we would like to thank them for always being there for her.
She leaves behind her five brothers and three sisters-in-law; Rory (Jacqueline), Kirk, Kelly, Brent (Lorraine), and Shawn (Henriette), as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her father Lawrence, mother Maureen (Shirley), and sister Kathleen Louise.

As per Erin's request, there will not be a funeral; however, her friends in Tumbler Ridge will hold a celebration of life to honor her.

The Celebration of Life for Erin will take place on Saturday June 6, 2026 in the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre, rooms 4 and 5. The doors will open at 2 pm with the service beginning at 2:30 pm.

Please join us in commemorating the silliness, creativity, and joy she brought to our community by wearing something red, or dressing up as your favourite character from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

In lieu of flowers a donation to Diabetes Canada , TRCARES or the SPCA may be considered.
